Whether you work from home full time or need a quiet corner for children’s studies, a well-planned workspace improves focus and keeps the rest of the home free of clutter.

At a Glance

A focused corner or room for working and studying from home.

  • Place the desk to make the most of daylight without screen glare.
  • Plan enough power and data points, with cable management built in.
  • Use acoustic softness — rugs, curtains, upholstered panels — for calls.

Where to put the desk

  • Near a window for daylight, with light coming from the side to avoid screen glare.
  • Facing into the room rather than a blank wall, if video calls are frequent.
  • In a second bedroom or a living room corner, with closed storage to “switch off” after work.

Comfort and technology

  • Desk height around 72–75 cm with a good adjustable chair.
  • Enough sockets, a data point and a cable tray built into the desk.
  • Task lighting plus soft ambient light for long hours.
  • Rugs, curtains and upholstered panels to soften echo on calls.

FAQs

Home Office design: your questions

Can’t find your answer? Ask our design team.

How much space does a home office need?

A desk of about 120 × 60 cm with a chair and some storage fits in a space of roughly 1.5 × 1.5 m — a corner of a bedroom or living room is often enough.
