Our studio is in Indirapuram, so this guide is written from our own neighbourhood. Indirapuram is organised into khands — among them Ahinsa Khand, Niti Khand, Shakti Khand, Nyay Khand, Gyan Khand and Vaibhav Khand — and is made up largely of group housing societies with 2 and 3 BHK flats, alongside newer towers.

Many of these flats were first furnished years ago. Whether you have just bought a resale flat, are renovating the home you have lived in for a decade, or have taken possession of a new unit, here is what we have learned.

What we typically find in Indirapuram flats

  • Kitchens from the first fit-out — often a tiled platform with a few cabinets, too little storage and no proper chimney duct.
  • Wardrobes that stop short of the ceiling, leaving dusty space above and too little storage inside.
  • Bathrooms showing their age — worn fittings, loose tiles and, sometimes, seepage into adjoining walls.
  • Wiring and points planned for fewer appliances than families use today, especially ACs.
  • Good bones — sensible layouts and usable balconies that respond well to renovation.

What to upgrade first

  1. Services: check wiring, the distribution board, AC points and plumbing — our old flat renovation guide explains why this comes first.
  2. The kitchen: a modular kitchen with BWP plywood near the sink, tall storage and a ducted chimney. See the modular kitchen cost guide.
  3. Bathrooms: strip back and waterproof properly — read our bathroom renovation guide.
  4. Wardrobes: full-height, with lofts and internals planned around what you own.
  5. Ceilings, lighting and paint — the finishing layer that makes the home feel new.

Working within your society

Most Indirapuram societies require you to inform the maintenance office before interior work starts, and many have set working hours, lift-use rules and debris-disposal arrangements. Some ask for a refundable deposit. Check with your RWA early, and share the rules with your designer so the schedule is planned around them.

Budgets and timelines

For new interiors, complete 2 BHK projects start at around ₹3.5 lakh and 3 BHK at around ₹4.5 lakh with essential finishes — see our 3 BHK cost guide and the cost calculator. Renovations add civil and services work, which we estimate after a site visit. A complete renovation usually takes 8–12 weeks; a modular kitchen alone around 3–4 weeks.

Why a local studio helps

Frequently asked questions

Can’t find your answer? Ask our design team.

Do I need society permission to renovate my Indirapuram flat?

Most societies require you to inform the maintenance office before work starts, and many have rules on working hours, lift use and debris. Check with your RWA, as rules vary between societies.

What should I renovate first in an older flat?

Start with services — wiring, plumbing and waterproofing — then the kitchen and bathrooms, then wardrobes, ceilings and finishes.

Can I see materials before deciding?

Yes. You can visit our Indirapuram studio to see board, laminate, veneer and hardware samples in person.
